Presciption Drugs

It seems the society is driven by drugs. The Medical kind. There's a drug for everything, and evertime we don't feel well, we go to the doctor and get a prescription for more drugs.

Drugs are scientifically developed by the pharmaceutical conmpanies after many years of research, and then approved by the FDA. (Food and Drug Administration) Developing a new drugs can take 10 years of research and millions of dollars of investment that are lost if the drug is not approved by the FDA.

I trust the doctor. But can the doctor accidentally give me the wrong drugs? What happens if I get more sick? Can the pharmacy make a mistake and give me the wrong drugs? How will I ever know. I don't know the difference from one drug to the next. Should I? Become a specialist in Drugs? Of just enough to questions and understand?
